SecuritySolutionsWatch.com: Please tell us about your background and your role at Fujitsu.

Shawn McPherron: With more than 33 years of experience in Sales and Marketing, I joined Fujitsu America about three years ago to drive our cloud marketing and solutions management.

SecuritySolutionsWatch.com: One will read on Fujitsu.com that, “Fujitsu provides a complete range of cloud solutions and services. We offer a trusted Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), private hosted IaaS, on-premises private cloud options, Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Hybrid Cloud Services.” Please give us an overview of the Fujitsu Trusted Public Cloud S5 Platform and the mobility solutions which Fujitsu delivers.

Shawn McPherron: The Fujitsu Trusted Public Cloud S5 is ideal for business workloads including Web applications. Two particularly interesting attributes are the layers of security built into the platform and the many locations around the world where it is available including the US, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Germany and UK. Unlike other cloud vendors, it really easy to do business with Fujitsu because you can buy all of these cloud services from your local sales team. Several thousands of our customers are global companies that like having one standardized cloud platform. We also offer the Fujitsu Managed Mobile service, which provides a very powerful solution for managing the spectrum of mobile and virtual client services. It provides strong security management for your mobile devices and seamless access to your client applications from any mobile device.

SecuritySolutionsWatch.com: We understand that Fujitsu recently announced a deal with ImageWare Systems “to enable the deployment of a new multi-modal biometric identity management solution and model. The cloud-based offering is built on the Fujitsu Global Cloud Platform (FGCP) and features ImageWare’s CloudIDTM product suite, anchored by ImageWare’s patented multi-modal Biometric Engine®. The products will be licensed on a service or transactional basis.” Care to elaborate?

Shawn McPherron: Up until now, anytime a company wanted to embed biometric security into their systems and applications, they had to first buy licenses and hardware, complete a systems set-up, hire IT staff, and start on a lengthy development and deployment project. Our work with ImageWare enables us to deliver a SaaS-based solution – or “BioID as a Service”. Now, your BioID projects can be implemented in days, not months, and you only pay for what you use, eliminating the need for large capital investments up front. This is a game-changer for security enablement.
